NORTH CAROLINA'S FIRST PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL TO OPEN ITS DOORS TO STUDENTS

Want a school that’s connected to the Heart of Durham?

Healthy Start Academy reaches out to the community that helps us thrive, and in turn the community reaches out to us.  We’ve created wonderful partnerships with many companies and organizations in the Durham area that share our focus on education, child welfare, and community responsibility.
The Durham Arts Council Creative Arts in Public and Private Schools brings us outstanding performing artists who help us add life to important Common Core lessons through storytelling, poetry, song, and dance. Their programs allow even the shy among us to participate and enjoy the class.

The Duke University Community Service Center offers numerous avenues for Duke Students and employees to get involved in and around the community. We are on a quest to do more with Duke. Every year, the Duke Medical School students add us to their service projects and help us get ready for the start of school. We also have worked with a number of other Duke programs, and we always welcome more involvement!
