Welcome! The purpose is to establish 21st CCLC programs that provide students with academic enrichment opportunities along with activities designed to complement the students' regular academic program. 21st CCLC's must also offer families of participating students educational developmental opportunities.

Academic Focus

21st Century Community Learning Center Programs place an emphasis on collaboration, student engagement, and innovative approaches supplementing school-based instruction. Academic enrichment activities are required to be aligned withthe North Carolina Standard Course of Study and those learning objectives integrated into all aspects of the program.

Program Activities

Activities may include, but are not limited to, the following activities that are based on the needs of the population served: enrichment and tutorial services in core academic subjects;mathematics and science education activities;art and music education activities; entrepreneurial education programs; programs that provide afterschool activities for limited English proficient students; recreational activities; telecommuncations and technology education programs; programs that promote parental involvement and family literacy; counseling programs; expanded library service hours; character education programs.
